Vipera berus. a male common adder
in typical colors. All black males (and females) also exist. This
one is from our main study site at Smygehuk, the southernmost point of
Sweden. The species is however found almost to the northernmost point
as well!
This is a female in striking
pose. She is characteristically much more brownish than are the males.
